Endoscopic Brow Lift
Like a traditional brow lift, an endoscopic brow lift is designed to lift sagging eyebrows, reduce horizontal forehead creases, frown lines and crow’s feet and restore a more awake, refreshed appearance to the eyes and upper face. The difference is that an endoscopic brow lift is less invasive than a traditional brow lift and typically requires in a shorter recovery period because it incorporates a surgical instrument called an endoscope.
Who Is a Candidate for an Endoscopic Brow Lift?
Endoscopic brow lift surgery is ideal for patients who want to elevate drooping brows and reduce wrinkles but do not need a large amount of tissue removed to accomplish their cosmetic goals. Patients with more severe eyebrow ptosis, or drooping, may not be candidates for endoscopic brow lift because more tissue must be removed to achieve the desired result. Endoscopic brow lift patients, like all cosmetic surgery patients, must be adult men or women who do not smoke and are in generally good physical and mental health.
How Is the Endoscopic Brow Lift Procedure Performed?
During the procedure, 4-5 small incisions are made across the forehead, hidden in the hairline. A tiny viewing instrument equipped with a camera and light is inserted into the incisions that allows Dr. Wittpenn to view the underlying structures of your forehead without making a large incision and pulling back the skin. Just as with a traditional brow lift, excess forehead skin and other tissues are removed and the skin and muscles are tightened, redraped and sutured. Endoscopic brow lifts are typically performed using local anesthesia with IV sedation, however general anesthesia is also an option. Most patients are recovered and back to work within a week of an endoscopic brow lift, however several weeks or months may be needed for final results to take shape.
